Overrun

Went to Overrun for their Chendol soft served ice cream!

The day that I went, there was only chendol flavour. Their soft serve are so popular that they only limit 2 cups per customer.

Chendol ($6). Vanilla soft serve with green jelly, desiccated coconut and gula melaka. Super yummy. The rich creamy vanilla goes so well together with the toppings. It's like a luxurious cool chendol. Really good. However, wished that it didn't melt so fast (most likely due to Sg's super hot weather).

Wimi Ice Cream

Was around the area when I came across Wimi so I and decided to get Coconut ice cream.

Thai Coconut Ice Cream ($5.20). Coconut ice cream with 3 normal toppings cost $4.90 but I had a premium topping red ruby so there was an extra charge for swapping with a normal topping. Normal topping + $0.50, Premium + $0.80. The coconut ice cream seriously tasted like coconut flesh except that it was colder. The ice cream was also mildly sweet so it's okay for old folks as well. The red ruby was crunchy and helped add sweetness. Overall it was like a coconut that was placed in a freezer in a good way.

Go Frost -CLOSED-

Go Frost is actually located in Wednesday Cafe.

At Go Frost they sell fried ice cream roll that is basically made from milk and other desired ingredients on a ice pan. They have 8 different flavors- vanilla oreo, choco-oreo, nutella, milo, strawberry, teh tarik, banella, salted caramel and banana frostroll.

Nutella FrostRoll ($6.50). My first ever fried ice cream roll. It was really milky and slightly less nutella-y. Texture is really different from your regular ice cream. This was somewhat stiffer, like thick paper ice cream. Topped with more nutella goodness.

+39 Gelato bar

Came with zq previously to +39 Gelato bar because zq read that their gelato was really good.

Hazelnut, Mango and Pistacio small cup Gelato. ($5.14 each) My favourite was the Hazelnut that reminded me of kinder bueno! Mango texture was quite sticky and a little too sweet for me. Pistachio was quite good too. Rich and nutty but melted quite fast.
The chef was quite friendly and when we were deciding the flavours, he offered us some to try.

Udders Ice Cream (Siglap)

Went with Zq to Udders. Wanted to go there for a looong time but couldn't find anyone so I forgot about it, till Zq asked.

We got waffles with 1 premium and 1 classic ice cream ($10.90) Mari KitaRed Velvet & Cream Cheese ice cream, Brownies. Inspired by the luscious red velvet cake as a special National Day flavor. Half red velvet ice cream, half cream cheese ice cream with brownie bits swirled in. You can have your cake and eat it too! Zq (a red velvet fan) wasn't impressed by it. She said she couldn't taste the red velvet flavor and the cream cheese.
Salted Speculoos- Spiced Caramelized Speculoos Cookies. Enjoy your cookies with a crunch! Crunchy Speculoos (lotus caramel biscuit) cookies in a brown butter ice cream base. I like it, it was sweet and crunchy from the biscuit. Zq said that the speculoos spread itself taste better. (richer)
Waffle was a little doughy on the inside (felt like it wasn't cook but it was).

Honey Creme

Finally tried Honey Creme!

Honey Creme is a South Korean brand that serves soft serve ice cream using organic milk. When they first opened on 26 Oct 2014 there was always a long queue forming outside their stall. So long that I didn't bother queuing for it. But now the hype for Honey Creme is over and no more queues (yay!).

Shared the Organic Cotton Candy ($5.50) with zq- Organic sugar is obtained as the main element for making this cotton candy. The original soft serve ice-cream is wigged with this natural color and non-artificial flavoring fluffy white cotton candy. On top of this cotton candy, you will see studs of Italian pink rock salt acting upon as a catalyst of flavor to this spectacular tasting ice-cream.

I didn't know they sprinkled salt on top of the cotton candy. It was a good choice, I love eating the sweet, fluffed up, light cotton candy with the salt. Reminds me of favorite salted caramel. Zq and I ate the cotton candy first. Now on to the ice cream. At first bite, it tasted like unsweetened whipped cream to me. For zq, it tasted like unsalted butter which I also agree. After a while it tasted a little like almond and then it started to taste like Mr Bean soya ice cream. Texture wise, it was creamy. It wasn't so sweet which I like. Overall I really like it but not so for zq who prefers llao llao.

Fatcat Ice Cream Bar

Fatcat Ice Cream Bar is not your usual ice cream shop. Here they offer not only waffles and ice cream but also plated desserts that you would get in a fine dinning restaurant. But there is a limited portion to those plated dessert.

Gourmet Waffles ($6 without ice cream, $10.50 with ice cream)- Charcoal waffle with salted caramel sauce, lavender and salted egg yolk sauce. I had the butterbeer ice cream with mine. You could taste the alcohol in it, sweet and a slight bitter aftertaste. The salted caramel was really salty which was good as it helped balanced the sweetness. The salted egg yolk sauce together with the waffles tasted like Liu Sha Bao(salted egg yolk bun) in a good way. The lavender had a perfume-y taste. Overall it was good.

Nia ordered the Deconstructed Strawberry Cheesecake ($15)- cinnamon shortbread crumble, popping candy, compressed strawberries, frozen raspberries, cinnamon cream cheese mousse, yogurt form and raspberry sorbet. Nia got surprise when she ate the crumble as her mouth inside was making popping sounds and she gave us try. It was really fun to experience eating the popping candy again. Not to sure about the whole dessert cause I don't really understand deconstructed dessert but Nia seemed to enjoy her dessert. Also, this dessert came with a pre-dessert!

The Pre-Dessert- Watermelon granita and something else that I forgot. Could really taste the watermelon flavor from the granita which was good. Didn't manage to try the other one cause Nia ate it all. But she said it was good.

I'm glad I finally managed to visit Fatcat after a long time of wanting to try their gourmet waffle. Glad I did as I got to experience another side of dessert.

Mr Bean (SGH)

Was at Singapore General Hospital visiting my uncle with my parents. After our visit we saw Mr Bean and decided to buy some ice cream and pancakes.

At Mr Bean they offer soya bean related drinks and snack using non-GMO soya beans.

Bought their Soya Ice Cream ($1.60). I like how it is mildly sweet and taste richly of soya beans (duh!). Makes me feel healthier. It's my mom's favorite! They also have the ice cream in a cup which cost $1.90 if I'm not wrong.

Also got Mr Bean Pancake, Cheese ($1.60). Warm, thick and soft batter with savory cheese in the middle.

Swensens (Bedok)

Swensens can be seen in a lot of shopping malls. It started out selling only ice cream and over the years it began selling hearty foods, ice cream cake and beverages which is the Swensens that we now know.

Came to Swensens with Mandeep, ZQ and Eugenia cause of their Weekday Lunch Treats where you get a free side, sundae or drink for any main dish.

Mozzarella Cheese SticksChunks of rich golden fried Mozzarella cheese sticks. I would have never even bother looking at it if it weren't for Mandeep. She convinced me that the mozzarella stick was good. So I decided to try it and boy was I glad I did, cause it was so yummy.

Perfectly deep fried, crunchy on the outside with the long string of cheese just oozing out.

Curry Chicken Baked Rice ($13.90). Spicy chunks of curry chicken baked with savory riceNot as herb-y as Pizza Hut's version. Curry was mildly spicy with bitter crackers, tender potatoes and chunks of chicken.

The Rock Sundae. This delightful treat brings you 3 signature ice cream flavors - Hazelnut, Cookies 'N' Cream and Rocky Road garnished with marshmallow sauce, hot caramel, cocoa pops and wafers from Italy. For me, I changed the flavors of the ice cream to Salted Gula Melaka, Butterscotch and Dark Chocolate. Butterscotch was so good. Could taste vanilla, caramel and goodness. Dark chocolate was quite bitter but tolerable. Salted Gula melaka tasted more like pandan and couldn't really taste the salt. Presentation wise, I like how they add dry ice to the plate so that it has the steam effect when it arrives.

Merely Ice Cream

Decided to give Merely Ice Cream a try since I heard some good review about it. So I brought zq along for our adventure.

I like the font and the way the menu is being shown! Looks cool.

Anyway, we looked at all the ice cream flavors available that day, we decided on Salted Butterscotch and Dark Chocolate with Waffle($2.40)- Rich, salty, buttery and sweet salted butterscotch ice cream and strong and bitter dark chocolate ice cream with a nice waffle that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I love the salted butterscotch(My weakness for sweet & salty combination❤)while zq like her dark chocolate. The waffles for me were good-nice flavor and not too dry. Zq on the other hand felt that it was dry(she wished there was some sort of sauce like honey)

Each scoop of ice cream served here is slightly bigger than what you get at most ice cream shop. There's also some magazines under the tables to read and free ice water.
