Gf brought me to Hyde & Co for lunch.
The Big Ben ($17 candied turkey bacon/ $21 smoked salmon)- Mushroom duxelle, poached eggs, chipotle, hollandaise, served on a brioche toast. I chose the candied turkey bacon, it taste a lot less smokey then your usual bacon and it was slightly sweet. Duxelle is a paste made with mushrooms, onions, herbs and sauted in butter. It helped give moisture to the toast along with the hollandaise sauce. The egg was disappointing, it was overcooked. The garnish felt quite out of place. Potatao was well cooked.
Ondeh Ondeh French Toast ($12)- Brioche french toast, grated pandan coconut, gula melaka sauce, vanilla bean ice cream. Thick slice of toast with bits of grated cocnut, chocolate chips, rich gula melaka sauce and creamy cool vanilla ice cream. Felt that the toast was a little too thick so it was quite dry but luckily there was the ice cream that helped give it moisture. This was one filing dessert.
If you're not a bread person like myself I would recommend you to dine during dinner time instead of lunch.

Went to Overrun for their Chendol soft served ice cream!
The day that I went, there was only chendol flavour. Their soft serve are so popular that they only limit 2 cups per customer.

Chendol ($6). Vanilla soft serve with green jelly, desiccated coconut and gula melaka. Super yummy. The rich creamy vanilla goes so well together with the toppings. It's like a luxurious cool chendol. Really good. However, wished that it didn't melt so fast (most likely due to Sg's super hot weather).

Nene Chicken (Hougang Mall)
Went to eat at Nene Chicken with Kart since it is Halal.
We were quite excited since it was our first time trying it out. We placed our orders and waited for a looooooong time before the buzzer lighted up. Most probably because there was only 1 person in the kitchen.
I had the Swicy Tenders meal($9.90) with Coleslaw, Nenepop(+$1.90) and Mineral Water.
Swicy Tenders- Sweet and Spicy. Best of both worlds! Sadly it wasn't as spicy as what I had expected. More towards the sweet side. Sauce was quite thick as well. Tenders were slightly tough but that was expected.
Coleslaw- Cabbage, capsicums, corn and crabstick tossed to perfection. Kart didn't like it at all. It was so so.
Nenepop- Tasty bite sized chicken drizzled with swicy sauce coupled with your favourite drink. So cheeky. Tender, crispy fried popcorn chicken. Wished there was more sauce. This was the best part of the meal.

Fish & Co. (Tampines)
Went to Fish & Co. for their Student Catch at $10 nett which comprise of a main and a drink. But hey, if you're not a student there's still the normal set lunch available. I went with zq. We got a table for 2 and was given an iPad to place our orders. Wow suddenly Fish & Co. also uses iPad for ordering.
Soup of the Day (+$3.50). The soup of the day was Fish Chowder. Soup was thick and a little gooey. something like the one I had at The Mind Cafe. Tasted good, portion size was good to.
Bombay Fish & Chips- Our all-time favourite Fish & Chips with an Indian herbs-and-spicy twist. Even King Shah Ruk Khan cannot resist! Not my cup of tea. Tasted a little like some Indian fried snack that I've tried before. The fish batter was super crispy and it went well with the lime. Fries were slightly crisp on the outside yet you can taste the potato-y-ness of the fries because of the thickness.
Seafood Lunch Platter- Grilled prawns, white fish, grilled calamari and blue mussels in garlic lemon butter sauce served with mashed potato. Crispy calamari, delicious mashed potato with taste of prawn that made it OH-SO-DELICIOUS. I prefer this more than the Bombay Fish & Chips.

Tang Tea House (Simpang Bedok)
Went to Tang Tea House for dim dum with kart and zq. It is a place where you can have halal tze char and dim sum.
Shanghai Steamed Chicken Dumpling ($4.40)- The skin was slightly thicker then the usual xiao long bao. There's soup inside so be careful when you eat it. Compared to a non-halal xiao long bao, this one which uses chicken meat here is not as juicy and tender. The skin was also a quite sticky.
Golden Sand Buns ($4.50)- My favourite look out when I'm in a dim sum shop. The salted egg custard was good, it oozes out as you bite into the bao. Salty, sweet and slightly creamy filling with the soft fluffy warm buns. The perfect combination.
Salted Egg Crystal Dumplings ($4.20)- Shrimp, chives and egg yolk. Taste quite similar to har gow. Didn't really like the cooked egg yolk which made you feel dry.
Har Kow ($4.20)- Shrimps in a slightly chewy and sticky skin. Taste almost the same as the non halal one.

Oishii Halal Restaurant -CLOSED-
Went to Oishii Halal Restaurant for a steamboat buffet. We bought an online voucher which cost $12 with the original price being $23.90. However, when we went there we noticed that the original price was only $12.99 for the day we went.
Oishii Halal Restaurant was actually called Yureka Teppanyaki Restaurant and on their facebook page you can see that it has not changed. At the restaurant you can also see a board hung on the wall with the words yureka teppanyaki.
We arrived, had a seat and was given 3 choices for our soup- Tom Yum, Chicken and Ramen. However if we wanted the Ramen we had to wait 20 minutes so we decided on tom yum and chicken soup instead.
The ingredients are all on the conveyor belt and you help yourself to whatever items you want. At first we could see some empty plate and some with broken egg shells on it but that was because there was no other place to dispose of your plate. Thus people would put it back at the conveyor belt which the people inside the kitchen would remove.
The food available was sliced beef, sliced chicken, prawns, squids, mussels, sliced fish, tofu, nori(which we only saw once), shiitake mushroom, enokitake mushroom, oyster mushroom, carrots, fishball, crab claw, crabstick and sausage. At the side you could get rice, cabbage, kang kong, condiments, egg, glass noodles, instant noodles, grape syrup drink, ice and plain water.
At the side of the table is the induction control- on/off and strength control (1,2 and 3). After a while even though the induction was at 1, the heat was still very strong. Strong enough for the soup to bubble and jump on to Hazel 's hand a few time (which wasn't pleasant for her). The Tom Yum soup was a little on the sweet side but there was slightly acidic as well. The Chicken soup was on the saltier side but flavorful.

Krispy Kreme (Great World City) -CLOSED-
Today is boxing Day but I did not get doughnuts today. I had Krispy Kreme donuts on Christmas eve!
Kripy Kreme is a doughnut company that started out in America in 1937. Many years later, Krispy Kreme came to Singapore with it's first outlet in Tangs Orchard on October 2013. Kripy Kreme has since opened 3 more outlets. I went to it's newest outlet at Great World City.
Gf and I bought a dozen assorted flavor ($2.50) for our colleagues- New York Cheesecake, Green Tea Cake, Salted Caramel, Caramel Cheesecake, Cookie Crunch and Red Velvet.
New York Cheesecake on the inside there was cream cheese filling and it's topped with some sort of biscuit for some crunch.
Green Tea Cake had a different texture, more towards a cake then doughnut (which I didn't like). The green tea flavor was prominent and good. DL really liked the green tea flavor of it.
Salted Caramel my favorite flavor! They use sea salt flakes. Very salty, very sweet but very good. Salted Caramel lovers will definitely love it!
Caramel Cheesecake is a lot sweeter than the New York cheesecake. I think it's really too sweet.
Cookie Crunch uses Oreo so instead of the golden brown doughnut, it's dark brown. Had a slight chocolaty flavor. Gf like this the most as she likes Oreo.
Red Velvet had a very crumbly texture. Fell apart quite easily. It had a chocolaty taste but there was an artificial taste to it.
I also got a free Original Glazed doughnut from the line app. Slightly chewy and quite sweet but good. YS likes the original one.
In the end everyone was happy with the doughnut although it was sweeter than what we would prefer. I especially love the Salted Caramel which I would gladly buy a box of if it weren't for the calories.

Eighteen Chef (Ang Mo Kio)
Wanted to try Eighteen Chef for a long time but couldn't get my friends to come with me. But since I'm dinning here means that I finally managed to drag them with me.
Eighteen Chef is run by Benny Se Teo who has been to prison and is now trying to help ex-convicts and delinquents reintegrate back into society through his restaurant.
We looked at the menu and decided to get the student meal ($6.40)- Pasta or Cheese Baked Rice + Ice Lemon Tea + Ice Cream. I went to the counter to place everyone's orders and we waited for our food to arrive.

I ordered Cheese-Baked Rice with Mushrooms and Spicy Garlic sauce. I thought the spicy garlic sauce would be flavorful but in the end it tasted a little like mui fan except with fried rice flavor. PY had the Japanese curry sauce which she liked as it tasted nice and it wasn't too spicy for her.
Lemon Tea. Love the cup used. The drink had a strong tea taste with a mild lemon taste. I prefer to have mine with a strong lemon taste.
Blueberries & Vanilla Ice Cream Waffles (+$4). For additional $4 with the student meal you can choose any waffle from the waffles menu. I shared with PY and we placed our free scoop of chocolate ice cream on the waffle as well. They were good. Warm waffles, tangy blueberry sauce and cold creamy ice cream.

FIX
Went with my friends to FIX cause I wanted to try their donuts. Finding the place was a little tricky cause I didn't really look at the address carefully so I didn't know it was in the HomeTeamNS clubhouse.
Iced Chocolate ($6)- Instead of $6, I paid $3 for it since I ordered it as a set with the penne gratin. This is the best chocolate I have ever drank. Mildly sweet with the perfect chocolate-yness ❤
Donuts with Salted Egg Yolk Custard Dip ($7)- Soft and fluffy donuts. The dip was good however it did not stick to the donuts so you couldn't really taste much of the dip. If only the donuts contain the dip as a filling on the inside, it would be better.

Fluff
I heard that Fluff Bakery sells some awesome tasting cupcakes so there I was queuing up even before they opened.
Salted Caramel Cupcake ($4)- light and fluffy vanilla cake with a salted caramel filling, topped with mascarpone frosting and salted caramel drizzle. Cake was moist and taste like vanilla. Frosting was not too sweet and went well with the salted caramel drizzle. Even though there wasn't a lot of salted caramel drizzled on the cupcake, I could still taste the salted caramel in every bite. The best part about this cupcake was the salted caramel filling! I absolutely love ADORE salted caramel!! When I bit into it, it was salty goodness ❤
Mooncake ($4)- light and fluffy brown sugar cake with a white lotus and salted egg yolk filling, a very light green tea frosting and white chocolate chips. This is a really interesting cupcake and as the name suggest, it really does taste like mooncake. I applaud fluff bakery for coming up with this flavor.(my first time seeing it in a cupcake form) The cake was moist and went well with the white lotus paste and egg yolk filling. However, the egg yolk together with the frosting tasted a little weird so I just ate the yolk without the frosting which was yummy.
This is the BEST cupcake I have tried. I don't mind going back to buy more. Maybe next time I'll buy the mooncake flavor instead of mooncake for my family to try.

NOM
Went to NOM with ZQ and Hazel on a Sunday cause of their rainbow cake. The bus stop outside the MRT I took a bus to Blk 90 and it took about 3 mins of walking straight after alighting from bus stop to find NOM.
We ordered the Egg Atlantic ($12.90)- slightly salty smoked salmon, runny poached eggs, English muffins, hollandaise sauce and salad. The combination of egg Benedict with smoked salmon work just as well as the bacon. The hollandaise color looked nice-pale yellow. The salad on the other hand was not very nice. Didn't like the dressing of the salad even though there was enough acidity maybe because of the fruitiness(?).
Ultimate NOM Burger ($13.90)- ground juicy beef patty with chewy smoked bacon, cheese, lettuce and a sunny side up egg sandwiched between 2 buns, hand cut fries and salad. The burger in one bite was amazing. Patty with the bacon was chewy but not overly chewy. Fries were nicely salted. Salad was the same as the one in Egg Atlantic.

Finally the (oreo) rainbow cake ($7.90). Actually wanted the salted caramel one but it was sold out (NO!!!!!!!!) Anyway, 7 different color cake in between layers of oreo buttercream. Didn't really like the oreo buttercream- not much oreo taste, more on the cream taste. Cake was average not moist but not dry as well. Wished I could try the salted caramel one.
Even though I came for the rainbow cake, I found something better, the burger and the egg Atlantic. It's a nice place that serves nice food however the salad that comes along with the dishes is very disappointing.

Minora Cuisine Pte Ltd
Was near Mustafa so my parents and I decided to eat at Minora for dinner.
They served us some crackers at the start. Crispy and nice.
Butterfly Prawn ($15.50)- Prawns tasted like frozen prawns. Liked that the prawn's tail was wrapped with aluminium foil which prevented my hands from getting dirty.
Chicken Briyani ($8.90)- The rice was really good- fluffy and tasty. Chicken on the other hand was a big let down, it was overcooked. There was also a hard boiled egg inside. Recommend you to buy the briyani rice alone.
Garlic Naan ($3) & Cheese Naan ($3.50)- Each naan consisted of 4 slices. For the garlic, the taste of it was there but not too overpowering which was good. The cheese naan was nice, melted cheesey goodness. Goes really well with the curry.
Fish Head Curry (M) ($23)- My first time eating curry fish head. The curry has just the right amount of spiciness, saltiness and sweetness. To our surprise there was more meat on the fish head than we had expected. Really worth the money.
Nice place for dinner and they do serve good food but choose wisely.
