Sushi Jin

Went to Sushi Jin with Gf and Dj for lunch. All set lunch are served with salad & dessert.

Salad. Mixed salad with roasted sesame dressing and sliced cherry tomatoes.

Bara Chirashi Don ($32)- assorted sashimi cube over sushi rice. The sashimi was tasty and fresh. There was tuna, salmon, some white fish, tamago, cucumber, tobiko and ikura on top of a bed of well seasoned rice. Overall I really enjoyed it cause I LOVE ikura! Th tuna was really good as well.

Wagyu to Foie Gras Don ($39)- glazed foie gras & wagyu beef over rice. The foie gras was really good- soft and melts in your mouth. The beef on the other hand was very average. Such a big contrast. They should just have a foie gras don on its own.

Unagi Don ($29)- grilled freshwater eel over sushi rice. In case you're wondering what's the yellow strips, they're shredded tamago (eggs). There was nothing special about the eel. This dish overall was very average.

Dessert. We had watermelons, grapes and a jelly. The jelly tasted like corn jelly with waterchesnut bits.

Ebi no Mentaiko Tempura ($18)- deep fried prawn with cod roe mayo. Sounds so good- mentaiko! However it was super dissapointing. Somehow the ebi wasn't as crisp as expected maybe the mentaiko made it soggy? Mentaiko taste was not to my liking as well. Wasn't as creamy as what I wanted and was more towards the spicy side. Felt like I was eating stale crispy spikey tempura with a slightly spicy sauce and a touch of lemon. Not a nice way to end our meal.

SWAG

Went to SWAG with gf for a healthier meal. SWAG stand for Salad Wraps And Greens and that is what they offer. It is also customizable if you would like.

Southern Pulled Pork ($10.90)- Lettuce, Cherry Tomatoes, Carrot, Eggs, Pasta, Cucumber, Pulled Pork with Cajun Firecracker Dressing. The pulled pork was  flavourful and helped add taste to the salad. The spicy cajun firecracker dressing helped add omph to the whole salad although it was a little too spicy for me to finish the entire salad. Luckily gf was there to help me. The lettuce had some that were wilted but only a super small amount of around 2 leaves. Overall it was a tasty salad.

Seafood Galore ($11.90)- Lettuce, Cherry tomatoes, Onions, Tofu, Cashew Nut, Broccoli, Calamari, Cajun Prawns, with Sambalnaise Dressing. No idea what is sambalnaise dressing but it tasted like some Thai sweet chilli sauce. Overall this gave off vibes of a Thai fusion salad.

Masige Dak (Holland Village)

Went with Ger and ky to Masige Dak for dinner. Masige Dak is a venture by Hansang Korean, That's why the two businesses are located in the same shop which I find quite redundant since they are both selling korean food.

We made a reservation and when we arrived there it was quite empty- not many customers, only one table of 4.

Chicken Cheese Ddukbokki ($25). Crispy deep fried chicken with chewy rice cake, cheese and sweet red chili sauce. This was a favourite among the three of us.

Yangyeum chilli
Original
Half/ half ($35)- Original and Yangyeum chilli. The chicken was crispy. Tasted a little like KFC except maybe slightly fresher.

Chicken Balls M ($9). There were S and M size available. The sauce tasted like the ones used for takoyaki. Chicken ball was chewy and tasted like processed food.

Cheese Ddukbokki ($9.80). Ky and I really like cheese Tteokbokki from our experienced with Koko Rooloo so we ordered this. It was good. Melty gooey cheese with chewy rice cake, vegetables and a sweet chilli sauce is a combination that cant go wrong.

The food was not too bad but the service was really bad. This place was the worst I have been to. After waiting for around 15 minutes our food was still not on our table so Ger asked the waiter at which he replied '1 min m'am your food will be here'. The waiter walked to the kitchen and came out almost immediately which made me wonder if our food was just sitting in the kitchen. So okay, the waiter came with two of the dishes we had ordered. After we were done eating, our two other dishes were still no where to be seen. By this time, it had been an hour after we had ordered. We call the waiter again and asked about our other two dishes to which he said he would need around 5 more minutes. He walked into the kitchen and I think he went to get our food cooked. He was in there for a long time, I suspect he was frying the chicken ball or something like that. I was really pissed. I mean there was only a total of three table including mine! How long could it take to deep fry or cook and just placed it on our table after we had ordered. No wonder that place only had 3 tables during dinner time. Well, the three of us are NEVER EVER going back again.
